Auckland Pallet Company Ltd was established in October 1985, before changing its name in February 2003 to Big Tuff Pallets Ltd. From early beginnings with 6 staff members and a small customer base, the company has grown to be one of the largest pallet manufacturers in the Auckland area. In May 2006 Big Tuff Pallets began the contract manufacturing of all pallets and timber goods for Pallet Products Ltd, a pallet company based in Papakura Auckland. This successful manufacturing arrangement resulted in the outright purchase of Pallet Products Ltd and the merger of the two companies on the 30th of June 2008. The company now has two Managing Directors with a combined 40 years experience in the pallet and timber industry. To compliment the pallet company, Big Tuff Sawmills Ltd was established on site and has been designed to supply timber to our pallet operation at competitive prices and to ensure supply when the timber market is tight. The intention of setting up this purpose built sawmill was to reduce our reliance on outside timber suppliers and to prevent our company being subjected to fluctuating timber prices. This in turn limits our requirement to continually increase pallet prices when timber rates increase. With the companies expansion we have employed the services of a new Production Manager, Operations Manager and have increased our Sales Staff to three members in order to meet the very high standards that we place on meeting our customers requirements. Upgrades to our Manukau City site have recently been completed with a large purpose built dry store 80m x 18m to house stock pallets. This dry store ensures that all pallets and finished goods that are required to be kept clean and dry at all times prior to delivery can be stored accordingly. We have also completed our yard project and our entire 17,100 square metre site is fully concreted.
